Prince Yakub Habeebuddin Tucy, the man claiming to be the descendant of last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, said that he favoured an out-of-court settlement on the vexed Ayodhya dispute.
He said that the matter should be resolved amicably through talks between religious heads of both communities and the people of Ayodhya.
Art of Living founder, Sri Sri Ravi Shanker, had proposed to mediate between Hindu and Muslim religious figures and announced that he was already in touch with them for an out-of-court settlement of the dispute. Tucy supported Ravi Shankar’s initiative and said that the spiritual guru always preached universal peace. |

He further announced that he would move the court if the Board failed to act in this matter.
He will be visiting Ayodhya tomorrow to meet the Hindu and Muslim religious leaders, apart from the common people to gauge their mood towards the peaceful and mutually acceptable resolution of the issue.
“We have also sought an appointment with UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath. However, I firmly believe that since the Ayodhya case relates to the matter of faith, it should be best settled outside the domain of courts and politics,” he added.
So far he had been waiting for the issue to be settled by the court or through mutual consent. “However, now, I feel that time is running out and the issue has snowballed into a purely political slugfest, which is creating a wedge between communities.”
Tucy, who lives in Hyderabad and is the caretaker of several Mughal monuments and shrines.
On demand of UP Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi that the Ayodhya disputed site be handed over to Shias, since it was built by first Mughal emperor Babur’s Shia army commander Mir Baqi, Tucy noted Shias had no locus standi on Mughal properties or monuments, since Mughals were Sunni rulers.Rizvi also supported the proposed 100-metre Lord Ram statue on the banks of Saryu in Ayodhya claiming it would promote the essence of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb (communal harmony) of the Awadh region. The Yogi government had proposed the Ram statue project. However, it would need the National Green Tribunal's (NGT) nod.The question is that for so many decades, the Ayodhya dispute is pending in court, so since long where was he? It is a million dollar question needs answer. If he is the descendant of last mughal Bahadurshah Zafar, must be knowing the reality that how his ancestors had converted Hindu temples and forts? Why he kept in hiding during British rule in Bharat. It is said that Britishers didn't allow any Mughal heirs to stay in India, if Tuci's ancesters had disclosed their identity, perhaps Tuci himself had not find any place in India that is Bharat. Secondly, where was he when the court had opened the locks and permitted to lay foundation(shilanyas) at Ayodhya? But with the change of governments at the Centre and Uttar Pradesh, trying to twist the matter. Thousands of Hindus and Muslims were on roads. Has he any hidden agenda while disclosing his identity? If his identity was in the knowledge of the government then on many crucial occasions why he was not called for to explain. The court should question him first, bring the facts of Ayodhya and conversion of other temples and Hindu monuments during Mughal rule. There may be thousands of questions to answer by this so-called descendant of last Mughal Bahadurshah Zafar, if his claim is taken seriously. The road/places named by the previous governments in the names of his ancestors are on the target to change by the present governments, he remains silence, why? When Bharat is having more muslim population at present than his ancestors, even then kept his identity secret; so many Muslims are fighting over mughals' places, mosques etc but he never tried to appear in the public, a million dollar question to be answered by Tuci. More over, which of the muslim gave him and his ancestor(s) shelter and what's motive behind appearing in filmy style on the scene? A great conspiracy seems behind all these activities. The government should open his sleeves and cupboards.Too much in India and abroad is written against the atrocities of Mughals, the silence of Tucy and his ancestors over all of them narrating that very serious. Doubts and suspicions may be wrong but it is duty of the government to know the facts. The gossips have no place in history.

The year was 1949. Independent India was two years old. While Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was grappling with an ideal called India, his deputy, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, was defining its frontiers. As the people of a free, yet divided nation were still recovering from the partition – which ripped apart our social fabric – somewhere in Uttar Pradesh, the ground was being prepared for a confrontation in Ayodhya on the night of 22 December 1949.
In his statement to the police, guard Abdul Barkat said that on the night of 22 December 1949, he saw a flash of lightning near the Babri Masjid, following which he spotted a child aged about four or five inside the structure, behind its locked gates.
The events that unfolded on 22 December 1949 destroyed the status quo set by the British in allowing Hindus and Muslims to worship at the mosque that had been built in the honour of the first Mughal conqueror Babur.
But it took another four decades for the VHP, the BJP and the Congress to act in an unintended concert that led LK Advani to launch the Rath Yatra, sparking a mass movement that ended with the demolition of the Babri Masjid on 6 December 1992.
