Dr Rajendra Prasad (L) was the only President who won two consecutive Presidential elections.  Presidents of India occupies the top most executive post of the country. He is the Head of state and Commander-in-chief of the Indian Armed Forces. Though s/he doesn’t run the government directly, the Prime Minister does that on behalf of the President in accordance with the Constitution. The president is elected indirectly by the people through their representatives in both houses of Parliament and legislative assemblies of states and union territories, including National Capital Territory of Delhi. The President serves a five- year term. Since independence, India has elected remarkable statesmen and leaders in different walks of life from across the country as its president. बिहार में महागठबंधन की सरकार अब बिखर सकती है। राष्ट्रपति पद की उम्मीदवारी को लेकर महागठबंधन में आए दरार के बाद अब जेडीयू पूरी तरह से महागठबंधन से अलग होने के लिए तैयार है। जेडीयू के बड़े नेता केसी त्यागी ने तो साफ कह दिया कि जेडीयू बीजेपी के साथ गठबंधन में कहीं अधिक सहज थी, जबकि लालू यादव के साथ स्थिति बेहद असहज हो चली है। भाजपा के साथ चलते नीतीश का ही कद नहीं बड़ा था, बल्कि जेडीयू का भी।  दरअसल, राष्ट्रपति पद का उम्मीदवार घोषित करने के समय जेडीयू के अलग रुख के बाद कांग्रेस और आरजेडी ने नीतीश कुमार की तीखी आलोचना की थी। JDU राज्य सभा सांसद और पार्टी के राष्ट्रीय प्रवक्ता के.सी. त्यागी  ने राष्ट्रपति पद के लिए मीरा कुमार को समर्थन ना देने को लेकर बड़ा बयान दिया है, उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस अपनी पार्टी के नेता को ही राष्ट्रपति उम्मीदवार बनाना चाहती थी इसलिए हमने उन्हें समर्थन नहीं दिया अगर मीरा कुमार की जगह किसी गैर-कांग्रेसी नेता को राष्ट्रपति उम्मीदवार बनाया जाता तो हम जरूर समर्थन देते।  वैसे भी तुलनात्मक दृष्टि से मीरा कुमार के मुकाबले राम नाथ कोविंद का पलड़ा ज...
