भारत के सर्वाधिक साक्षरता वाले प्रदेश में लाल आतंक की बर्बरता अपने चरम पर है । भारत के तथाकथित बुद्धिजीवी वर्ग का एवं राष्ट्रीय मीडिया का इस पर चुप्पी साधे रखना वाकई बेहद शर्मनाक है। वैसे तो सामाजिक असमानता,जलीकट्टू के दौरान पशुओं पर हो रहे अत्याचार, मानवाधिकारों की दुहाई देते हुए भारत में वामपंथी लोग आपको यत्र-तत्र घडियाली आंसू बहाते हुए मिल जायेंगे पर केरल में हो रही एक के बाद एक हत्याओं पर इस वर्ग का मौन इस बर्बर कार्य को इनकी मौन स्वीकृति देता हुआ प्रतीत होता है ।  1978 में जब पत्रकारिता में पदापर्ण करने से आज तक केरल में संघ एवं भाजपा कार्यकर्ताओं की हो रही हत्याओं का सिलसिला रुका नहीं है। अख़लाक़ की भीड़ द्वारा मौत होने पर छद्दम धर्म-निरपेक्ष किस तरह विधवा-विलाप करते नज़र आए, लेकिन केरल में होती हत्याओं पर अंधे,गूंगे और बहरे बने बैठे हैं। क्या इनका खून खून नहीं, अख़लाक़ का ही खून खून था? लेकिन तब से लेकर यही देखा है कि किसी भी गैर-हिन्दू की हत्या होने पर समाजवाद और धर्म-निरपेक्षता संकट में नज़र आ जाती है। परन्तु केरल में होती हत्याओं पर छद्दमों के साथ-साथ मीडिया भी चुप्पी साधे रहत...
