भारत के महान सपूत महानायक नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस का जन्म 23 जनवरी 1897 को हुआ था। नेता जी आजीवन युद्धकर्म और संघर्ष तथा संगठन में  रत रहे। सुभाष जब 15 वर्ष के थे  उसी समय दूसरा महत्वपूर्ण प्रभाव स्वामी विवेकानंद और उनके गुरू स्वामी रामकृष्ण परमहंस का पड़ा। सुभाष के जीवन पर अरविंद के गहन दर्शन एवं उनकी उच्च भावना का प्रभाव भी पड़ा। नेताजी ऋषि अरविंद की पत्रिका आर्य को बहुत ही लगाव से पढ़ते थे। पिताजी की इच्छा का निर्वाहन करते हुए उन्होनें उन दिनों की  सर्वाधिक महत्वपूर्ण परीक्षा आईसीएस में बैठने के लिए कैम्ब्रिज विश्वविद्यालय में प्रवेश लिया तथा आठ माह में परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण कर ली। किंतु काफी विचार विमर्श के बाद उन्होनें  आईसीएस की नौकरी का परित्याग कर एक अनोखा उदाहरण प्रस्तुत किया। तब तक किसी भारतीय ने आइसीएस के इतिहास में ऐसा नहीं किया था। सुभाष 16 जुलाई 1921 को बम्बर्ह पहुंच गये और वहां पर महात्मा गांधी से उनके आवास पर मिले। युवक सुभाष तो सार्वजनिक जीवन में प्रवेश कर रहे थे वह उस नेता से मिलना चाहते थे जिसने सम्पूर्ण देश में अंग्रेजों के खिलाफ असहयोग आंदोलन चला रखा ...
