Sushma launches scathing attack on Sonia, Rahul

The campaign for the ouster of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj was on August 12 met with a strong counter-offensive when she launched a no-holds-barred attack on Congress, accusing it of having taken money to help alleged Bofors middleman Ottavio Quattrocchi and then Union Carbide chairman Warren Anderson flee India even as the government rejected the demand for her resignation. Taking the floor after a number of searching questions were raised by Congress group leader Mallikarjun Kharge, Swaraj's charges against late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and his government and the attack on Rahul Gandhi escalated further tensions between the Opposition and government as a washed-out session of Parliament comes to an end on Thursday. On the penultimate day of the month-long session, which was paralysed over the Congress' demand for Swaraj's resignation, the two sides settled for a discussion on an adjournment motion that was, to say the least,...

Controversy over Giriraj's remarks

“ Agar Rajiv Gandhi koi Nigerian ladies se byaah kiye hote, gori chamra na hota, toh kya Congress party uska netritwa sweekarti kya?” Union minister Giriraj Singh uttered these lines recently and following his universal condemnation, even from his own party, has expressed regrets. As a responsible leader, he should never have said something like this. Anyone can see through the racist tone of his remarks.First thing, it is wrong to generalize a women of one nationality and secondly he spoke of them in degrading tone. Third issue is that as Sonia is holding a responsible position from several years now and has proven her mettle, it is ridiculous to opine that her merit is her skin color. So it is indeed a shameful, politically motivated, sexist and racist remark that the minister made. Being settled on all that, let us just go a bit more deep into his statement. If hypothetically we imagine that Rajeev Gandhi had indeed married an African and if she is as qualified ...

Efforts to trap and expose dynasty family

Days after launching his political party, anti-graft activist Arvind Kejriwal Friday accused Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra of being involved multi-crore real estate scam. Robert Vadra is married to Priyanka Gandhi, daughter of Sonia Gandhi and sister of Rahul Gandhi. Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal and his colleague Prashant Bhushan alleged that Vadra bought property in Gurgaon and other places at rates much below market rates and sold them at huge profit. "Robert Vadra acquired properties worth hundreds of crores (of rupees) from nothing. What is the source of these funds?" asked Kejriwal. He distributed scanned copies of 'documentary evidence' to back his claim. Arvind Kejriwal accuses Robert Vadra, the son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi,  of corruption in land deals. "In the last four years, Robert Vadra has gone on a property buying binge and has purchased at least 31 properties mostly in and around New Delhi,...

Congress trying to divert the issue of Sonia's secret tours

Despite being under intense fire for his anti-Sonia Gandhi comments, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today kept up his attack on the Congress president saying that if newspaper reports on the expenditure incurred on her foreign trip were wrong, why did the Congress not take any legal action. Reacting to criticisms by Congress leaders, Modi asked why did the party not take action against the vernacular daily over report that Rs 1,880 crore were spent on Sonia Gandi's foreign trips and treatment abroad over three years. Modi also said that the government could spend as much on her treatment as it was a humanitarian cause but if people wanted to know details of the expenditure incurred then the centre should reveal it. Modi alleged that the Congress president was getting all facilities like special flight, which were meant only for the prime minister and president of India. Asking if the central government had given a special status to Sonia Gandhi, Modi said the money...
