IAC seeks President's intervention over blood sporting statement by the Law Minister Salman Khursheed
India Against Corruption (IAC) activist Kumar Vishwas on October 17 criticised Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid for threatening RTI crusader Arvind Kejriwal, and urged President Pranab Mukherjee to intervene into the matter.
Salman Khurshid had responded to Arvind Kejriwal's statement that they would now demonstrate against the Law Minister in his constituency in Farrukhabad.
Vishwas said that it is unacceptable for a Law Minister to speak in such a manner, and sought his immediate resignation.
"The post of Law Minister was once occupied by the Father of the Indian Constitution Baba Saheb Ambedkar. And such a comment coming from a person presently occupying such a reputed post raises suspicion about his Oxford education," said Vishwas.
"We are the common people of this country. We are ready to face the consequences, but we won't stop our protest. If he is trying to provoke us then I must tell you that it is a big crime in the law to incite people for violence," he added.
Vishwas further said President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh should immediately take note of the comments made by the Law Minister.
"The President and the Prime Minister should take note of this matter. The President should ask the Prime Minister to ensure that such a person does not continue as the Law Minister," he said.
Launched a scathing attack on Kejriwal, Khurshid earlier said that 'till now he has been wielding a pen and it is time to replace ink with blood'.
"I was made the Law Minister and asked to wield a pen...now it is time to replace it with blood. Let him (Kejriwal) come to Farrukhabad; how will he go back...Kejriwal says he will ask the questions and asks us to give the answers, you have heard what we have to say, you will forget the questions," he said.
Kejriwal also hit back at Khurshid, saying the latter has threatened him and that language that he has used does not suit the country's Law Minister.
"Mr. Salman Khurshid has threatened me. The language that he has used does not suit the Law Minister of the country. Killing me won't help as the whole country has woken up. Hundreds of other Kejriwals will rise. Rather than threatening like this, it would be better that Congress sensed the anger of the people and took some concrete steps against corruption," he tweeted.
