Guwahati: Assam government would enforce pay cut, break in service and disciplinary action against the employees who do not report for work during 'Bharat Bandh' on September 20.
This was said in a notification issued by the government on Wednesday to ensure normal functioning and attendance in all government offices and undertakings in the state in view of September 20's bandh by BJP and supported by several parties.
All heads of offices and departments have been further instructed to deduct pay and allowances for unauthorized absence from offices and duties on Thursday and to initiate disciplinary action for such unauthorised absence.
"Employees who absent themselves from duties tomorrow will be treated as unauthorisedly absent and appropriate action like pay-cut, break in service, liability for disciplinary actions among others shall be taken," an official release said here on September 19.
All district and sub-divisional authorities have been directed to take necessary measures to ensure normal functioning of all state Government offices, including transport and power during the bandh period.
BJP-led NDA, supported by several political parties, has called a nation-wide bandh on Thursday to protest against diesel price hike, FDI in retail and regulation on supply of LPG cylinders.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on September 19 warned that her government would not allow forcible enforcement of the bandh on September 20 called by the CPI(M).
Stating that a bandh served no purpose, Banerjee told reporters, "We will not allow bandh forcibly."
She said that taking advantage of the diesel price hike, the prices of some commodities were sought to be increased and a bandh would further aggravate the situation.
Banerjee said that bandhs led to economic loss and ruined the state. "I do not believe in the politics of bandh."
She said that offices would remain open tomorrow and state-run buses and trams would be on the roads.
She alleged that state was bankrupted by the previous Left Front government by leaving a debt burden of Rs 2.3 lakh crore.
But according to some political circles, it is said that it's all drama of her but the fact is that to avoid attention on recognition to madarsas and other appeasement policies and the way she is favouring Muslims at her best, she is confronting with the Centre. Otherwise, if by heart Trinamul Congress is against the FDI, cut in LPG subsidy and hike in diesel, then why is Mamata against the bandh? The day she got the package from the centre or if any other political party or any NGO files writ in the court, without wasting a second she will jump in the lap of the centre(Congress).
Like Mamata, Mulayam Singhs, M.Karunanidhis and Mayawatis are not less opportunists. They are opposing the decisions on the table to influence voters but under the table enjoying the cake.
