CHHOTA
RAJAN is now a lonely man. This is what he has revealed to Indonesian
Police during the initial interrogation after he was arrested at Bali
airport on October 25. The emotional outburst happened when he was cornered
by the Bali police, which acted swiftly against him on a tip- off from
Canberra.
Major Reinhard, who arrested Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje
also known as Mohan Kumar and Chhota Rajan, said the former Dawood aide
was evasive in the beginning when he was intercepted at the airport. He
was carrying a passport in which his name was mentioned as Mohan Kumar.
The passport number G9273860 was issued from Sydney in 2008 and his
place of birth was declared as Mandya, Karnataka. He tried to hide his identity.
However Major Reinhard had done his homework after getting a tip- off of his presence in the popular resort island of Bali by Australian authorities. He confronted Chhota Rajan with the red corner notice issued against him in 1995.
The RCN had his picture which tallied with his face. He was then detained at the airport and was further brought for questioning at Denpesar police station.
When Reinhard asked Rajan that being an Indian he should go back Rajan was initially evasive when cornered at airport ‘ return, will
showed his reluctance to return to the native country.
He rather requested Indonesian Police that if possible he should be sent to Zimbabwe, where he had been living for some time.
Rajan also told interrogators that since his father, mother and wife were dead he was free to travel to Zimbabwe but he was not comfortable with India as he felt he could be targeted by arch rival, Dawood Ibrahim- led Dcompany there.
He has been shifted from Denpesar Police Station to now a highly- secure police establishment in Polda Bali. He has not been produced in court yet. As per the Indonesian law, if an accused is arrested on red corner notice, he has to be deported to wanted within twenty days from the date of his arrest.
The Central Bureau of Investigation, which is the nodal agency for Interpol, has initiated deportation process but is running against time.
If the agency fails to provide all the evidence with documents that Chhota Rajan is wanted in almost twenty heinous cases in India within these twenty days, then as per the law he is at liberty to be a free man.
Rajan will be set free if CBI doesn’t give proof of crimes
