NEW DELHI: Already under fire for his alleged role in the recent communal riots in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan may land himself in more trouble for his verbal tirade against party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Addressing a gathering at his constituency, Rampur, the controversial Samajwadi Party leader was caught on camera calling Mulayam Singh Yadav a ‘hijra’ (a eunuch, or a pejorative term to denote impotence) for not doing enough for the development of many constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.
Azam Khan also said that Rampur developed because of him and not because of Mulayam Singh Yadav.
He dismissed claims of Mulayam Singh Yadav being the force behind Rampur's development, saying if it was the SP supremo behind the progress of his constituency then why did he prove such a disappointment in the Swar region.
The video also shows Azam Khan using more derogatory language against the SP leader.
Azam Khan was recently accused by a Shia cleric of being the man behind the recent communal riots in Uttar Pradesh.
"A very senior minister in the SP government is behind the communal riots in the state. But now he wants the Shias and Sunnis to fight over the Waqf property.
"This is why he is creating obstacles on the way of the Waqf Board elections. I have decided to hold a protest in Lucknow on August 23 in which clerics will participate. We will decide the details of the Board elections," Maulana Kalbe Jawwad said in Kanpur.
