THOUGH acceptance of the Muslims’ demand for the division of
India on religious basis and creation of Pakistan for Muslims in 1947 was
supposed to be the permanent ‘settlement’ of Muslim problem in India,
successive Indian governments have continued to pursue the perverse policy of
Muslim appeasement ever since 1947.
Though this persistent policy of appeasement has crippled
India, it is culminating in a historical disaster in the shape of reservation
for Muslim in government jobs and educational institutions.
Subversive subterfuge
Though after the creation of Pakistan, any one suggesting or
supporting the reservation for Muslims in truncated India will be helping the
creation of more Pakistans and Bangladeshs on Indian soil, and though
reservation on religious grounds is anti-secular and unconstitutional, and it
would tear apart India’s secular fabric, on December 22, 2011, Congress-led
Central Government declared 4.5 per cent reservation for minorities (within 27
per cent reservation for OBCs) in government jobs and educational institutions
to harvest Muslim votes in assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and four other
states held in January / February, 2012.
On May 28, 2012, Andhra Pradesh High Court struck down the
said reservation as unconstitutional since the same was based on religious
grounds. But Central government is planning to challenge the Andhra Pradesh
High Court’s order in the Supreme Court.
Though government jobs and educational institutes all over
India are as much open to Muslims as to other communities, some sections of
Muslim have already demanded reservation in proportion to their population
instead of 4.5 per cent reservation for minorities.
Since appeasement is a bottomless pit, this sinister and
divisive design of minority reservation would open the floodgates for more
dangerous and more divisive demands and dismember the nation.
Historical perspective
Reservation
for Muslims defies both logic and history.
Proponents of Muslim reservation forget how Muslims had
demanded and obtained Pakistan for Muslims in 1947. They also ignore that such
measures would re-create pre-1947 situation which would further shatter India.
How Muslims League got Pakistan for Muslims is briefly
narrated below.
Bharat
Varsha including
the present day India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Afghanistan and even
Zabol in Iran was Hindu land with zero Muslim population till 711 when Muhammad
bin Qasim’s Arab army attacked Sindh. Defending their motherland valiantly
during repeated Muslim attacks for over a thousand years, Hindus lost areas now
known as Afghanistan in 987, and Pakistan and Bangladesh to Muslims in 1947
besides losing millions of lives, and suffering destruction and plunder of
thousands of their temples.
After Muslim domination, India was under the British from
1857 to 1947.
Formed in 1906, Muslim League demanded Pakistan for Muslims
on 23rd March, 1940 when Muhammad Ali Jinnah, hailed by Pakistanis as Baba-e-Qaum
(father of the nation) proclaimed in Lahore that Hindus and Muslims belonged to
two different religions, civilizations and nations which could never live
together in one country; and demanded Pakistan, a separate country for Muslims,
comprising Muslim majority areas in undivided India.
In the elections held in 1945-46, Muslims overwhelmingly
voted for Muslim League, and for creation of Pakistan.
Muslim League launched Direct Action Day on August 16, 1946
to attain Pakistan. This action resulted in slaughter of thousands of
innocents.
In 1947, Indian National Congress conceded the demand for
Pakistan; and Muslims got about a fourth of undivided India’s land as Pakistan
comprising West Pakistan (presently Pakistan) and East Pakistan (presently
Bangladesh).
Both
Pakistan and Bangladesh have been declared as Islamic Republics and have driven
out most of Hindus and Sikhs from their land. However, most of Indian
Muslims who had demanded Pakistan and exchange of population stayed back in India, and did not go to
Pakistan. Rather,
the present percentage of Muslim population in India is much higher than that
in 1947.
Accordingly,
after the creation of Pakistan, Indian Muslims can have rights and duties only
as Indians and not as Muslims; and any reservation for Muslims in partitioned
India is obviously untenable.
Deluge of Muslim appeasement
Logically in 1947, on India’s partition on religious basis
and creation of Pakistan for Muslims as demanded by Muslims, truncated Bharat
should have been declared a Hindu republic to re-assert its Hindu identity.
However, a perverse ‘secularism’ was foisted on Bharat where anything which is
anti-Hindu, pro-Muslim, divisive, sectarian, and even anti-national is
‘secularism’.
Only a few examples of havoc brought by fake secularism are given
here:
Countless Pak-Bangla terrorists and crores of Pak-Bangla
infiltrators planting mini-Pakistans and mini-Bangladeshs in India; genocide
and eviction of Hindus from Kashmir; global missionary organisations
Christianising India; government control over all prominent Hindu temples
whereas no mosque or church is covered by such control; special privileges to
non-Hindus under Article 30 of the Constitution; special rights to Muslim
majority Jammu & Kashmir under Article 370; special benefits conferred upon
non-Hindus by many state governments; freedom to Saudi Arabia to fund the
building of mosques and Madrassas in India though no Hindu temple can be built
anywhere in Saudi Arabia; and provision of Haj subsidy though none of 57
Islamic countries gives any such subsidy are just a few perversities of secular
India.
And reservation for Muslims carries forward this long march
of perverse secularism and appeasement.
Way out
Acceptance of the Muslims’ demand for division of India on
religious basis and creation of Pakistan (in 1947) was meant to be the permanent
‘settlement’ of Muslim problem in un-divided India. Therefore, after the
creation of Pakistan, daily acts of Muslim appeasement must come to an end.
Since the policy of reservation for Muslims will lead to
creation of more Pakistans and Bangladeshs on Indian soil, it has to be
vehemently opposed by all nationalists.
Reservation on religious grounds is a self-destructive
weapon which will demolish the cohesion and equilibrium of Indian society. It
will sow the seeds of disruption and lead to further dismemberment of India.
Instead
of vicious policies like reservation for minorities, there is need to implement
Uniform Civil Code as stipulated in Article 44 of Indian Constitution to make
India a really secular and united country. Besides, Article 370 must be
abolished to bring Muslim majority Jammu and Kashmir State’s complete
integration with the rest of India. Moreover, the Supreme Court’s judgements
dated July 12, 2005 and December 5, 2006 must be implemented to deport crores
of Bangladeshi infiltrators.
In
a truly secular polity, there can be no majority and no minority. In a really
secular set-up, there would be only humans, one law, one nation, justice to all
and appeasement of none, and same rights for all citizens.
Since reservation for Muslims on religious grounds would
re-create conditions which created Pakistan in 1947, all nationalist
individuals and social, religious and political organisations must assert
themselves and do their utmost to force the government to withdraw this ruinous
move in order to prevent further dismemberment of truncated India, and creation
of more Pakistans and Bangladeshs on Indian soil.
With
the wisdom of a thousand years’ hindsight, nationalists must remember the
lessons of history and defeat all divisive and dangerous designs. As aptly
stated by George Santayana, “Those who do not remember the past are
condemned to repeat it”.
