OVER Jaswant Singh’s book on Jinnah, BJP— to be known as the party of intellectuals and of academicians—has again missed the bus to expose the Congress and Mahatma Gandhi in particular. That is why sitting their fingers crossed enjoying the bull-fighting within BJP. Though I have not read the book, only reviews published in the print media. It is observed that there is nothing new in the book, only those stale matter, we Indians are used to read in books and in articles. Before writing the book, Jaswant Singh, one of the senior leaders of BJP, should have studied the character and the old history—which has buried somewhere in the cupboards for tarmanites to enjoy—first. During their NDA regime, then HRD Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi has tried a little bit but the way, he had tried to bring the changes in the history or other text-books faced criticism all round. Mr Singh should have consulted the old freedom fighters, close to the then Congress, must have read the history by Ishwari Prasad, if available somewhere in the dustbin. Then this book has thundered in the cups of Indian politics.
I up to some extant agree with former RSS chief KS Sudarshan that rigidity of
Mahatma Gandhi and of Jawaharlal Nehru compelled Mohd Ali Jinnah to join Muslim League and support partition of India by separating Pakistan from India. Mr Sudarshan must come forward openly with facts. His statement has hinted that he has some solid evidence in his sleeves. Without knowing the facts none could dare to utter words like this. It is observed that Mr KS Sudarshan seems more intelligent and educative than the present RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat. Whatever he spoke in the Aug.28, press conference was just an eyewash and full of deceive words. He
himself has proved that he lacks in actual history. He hold press conference in such a manner as if he has to contest any election for President or for Prime Minister of India. When you have to keep yourself aloof from this issue, it was better to keep mum. The people holding such respectable post should not do joke like this. If Mr Bhagwat was unable to deliver the goods, should bring Mr Sudarshan on the front. It was the question of nation’s integrity. By praising Jawaharlal Nehru what you wanted to prove. You praised Nehru only for one reason that after China war, Nehru asked then Sarsanghchalak MS Golwalkar to participate in the Republic Day parade.
RSS is having a cell of historians, why are they not asked to bring the truth before the nation. The day truth comes out, the world will witness social harmony in India. And the dream of Akhand Bharat could be fulfilled.
Once Jawaharlal had said that “I am a Hindu by accident…” Till date everybody has taken this statement to lightly to explain. Believe it or not, a serious research is required over these statements, one by Jawaharlal and the other by KS Sudarshan. Otherwise such bull-fighting would never stop in India and the coming generation would be unaware of the real history of India. It’s the right time—ignoring and forgetting vote bank politics—to debate and research by the historians as well as by the media, print as well as electronic media.
One of my elder uncle, Delhi Conspiracy Case hero, Prof N.K. Nigam(1906-80), freedom fighter, a close associate to Pt Chandrashekhar Azad, and India’s First Counsel General of India in Kuwait and Trade Commissioner of India in Pakistan, used to narrate the hidden chapters of history. If Motilal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi had agreed to make Prime Minister of the interim government to either Jinnah or Patel instead of Jawaharlal, Jinnah had never supported the partition of India. Of which too many examples are there. I am unable to recall the exact name of that Hindu leader, the matter is thus: in the Congress meeting Patel asked Gandhi to request Motilal and Jawaharlal to contest his case in court, both of them as well as Gandhi refused to do so but Jinnah against their wishes contested the case and got him free from jail. Maulana Azad, Asaf Ali etc were opportunists. They preferred to stay here with the fear of Punjabi Muslims (of Peshawar and Lahore), Sindhis and of Pakhtunis etc. Delhi’s Jama Masjid witnessed two public meetings in its precincts one by Jinnah and the other by Maulana Azad. The former hold the meeting inside the Masjid to oppose the partition demand of Muslim League and burnt the Muslim League office opposite Jama Masjid while latter called the meeting at the time of partition to stop Pakistan-going-Muslims by showing the fear of Punjabi Muslims etc there so on and so forth.
The Hindus not only criticize but hate Jinnah over the issue of trains coming from Pakistan was reaching India with full of butchered Hindus, as far as to say ill-words to Mahatma Gandhi but we must not forget that how many times Gandhi, Motilal and Jawahar had insulted Jinnah and Patel &co. when the swords are out only blood will blew, flowers will not blossom.
Gandhi used to say “if India is partitioned, it will be on my dead body.” It was Jinnah who showed that this is partition. And declared Pakistan an Islamic state but so many political parties since 1947 have ruled over Indian but none could dare to declare India as Hindu Rashtra. Our leaders could warm up their activities over the dead bodies but couldn’t dare to face the truth. The world over taking the advantage of this weakness of our leaders as well as parties which ever they belong.
We are unaware of the fact that Jinnah and Sardar Patel were hand in gloves. On millions of issues, we Indians are kept in dark till date. Moreso, till 1944/45, Delhi used to face communal riots on every Bakr Idd. The communal Muslims of Delhi’s Sadar Bazar used to slaughter cow(s) on this day, but on one bakr id a strongly built Hindu named Lotan courageously came forward and in his efforts in stopping the Muslims and he was seriously injured, his body was almost covered in blood. Resultantly, police arrested Lotan only.
Those days our Mahatma Gandhi used to deliver daily sermons at the Harijan(now called Balmiki) Mandir—opposite Prem Nath Motors—Panchkuian Road,New Delhi, and was directly broadcast at the AIR. That day Gandhi in his speech (sermon) said, “aaj sab kuch thik dhak rah, bus police ne Sadar Bazar se ek dangai ko giraftar kar liya”. During those days, my younger aunt was pregnant and on this particular day, my respected father—Shri Magan Behari Lal Nigam(1917-2005)—had gone to leave her at her parent’s house in Karol Bagh. On his way back to home, he was stopped near Jhandewala Mandir, and for almost an hour he stayed at the Dharamshala on the main road, from where for the first and last time he saw Lotan at the police truck. My father narrated the incident in the mohalla but when listened Gandhi’s speech the case was totally different. That is why, it’s the demand of the time to debate and research so that real issues may come up before the public and new generation in particular that what actually happened in the past and what we are told. Leave vote bank politics and come forward.
The problem in India is that before vote bank politics, we avoid to bring the real history out of our sleeves and it’s the one of the reasons of communal riots here. See, so much of hue and cry over Godhara and Ramjanmabhoomi issue is faced by the peace loving people of the country, but none dared to expose the root problem either by our leaders as well as media—print and electronic—but are running just for powers by playing hide and seek game on the tune of vote bank politics.
